Fleischmann

Fleischmann, established in 1887 in Germany, began producing a wide range of tin toys and introduced its first model train in 1949 in 0 gauge. Fleischmann was the first company to ever produce a steam locomotive with the motor in the tender, a practice soon copied by many other brands. After the introduction of N scale in 1960, Fleischmann started producing a significant array of N scale trains from 1969 with their Piccolo range. In 2008 Fleischmann was acquired by Modelleisenbahn GmbH, which also already owned Roco, but unfortunately the company had difficulties staying afloat and had to file for bankruptcy in 2015. Little remains of the company it once was, and as of 2019, Fleischmann only produces N scale models.
