As ordered by the Deutsche Reichsbahn Gesellschaft (DRG) about 3160 of these goods locomotives type G 56.15 of the Class 50 were constructed by many German and European manufacturers during the years 1939 - 1948. These locomotives were almost all used in service all over the mainland of Europe. Built as 2-10-0 h2, the loco developed 1625 horsepower and had a top speed of 80 km/h both forward and backwards. The Deutsche Bundesbahn (DB) fitted a few of the class with closed driver's cab and tub tender of the type 2'2 T30. Up to renumbering the class 050-053 there were locos of this type in service until 1976. A few locos are still preserved today on private lines or as museum pieces.
