maerklin

Märklin was established in 1859 in Germany, initially producing metal miniature toys. In 1891 Märklin introduced the first wind-up toy train with expandable rail system and the model train was born. Throughout the years, Märklin has grown enormously, acquiring other manufacturing brands such as HAMO in 1963, Trix in 1997 and LGB in 2007. Originally producing mainly German trains, Märklin has expanded their product range to cover all corners of the globe. While on the brink of bankruptcy in the early 2000s, Märklin has been able to turn the tide and is one of the largest model train manufacturers in the world.
