In 1905 mass production was started for steam railcars with the "Kittel" design boiler. The latter was named after Eugen Kittel, the chief engineer at that time for the Esslingen Machine Company. This vehicle had 40 seats and space for 4 people to stand. In addition, there was also a baggage and mail area. The maximum speed was 60 km/h (approx. 38 mph). The results with this railcar were so good that 14 units remained in service with the DRG and the last of this railcar was not retired from the DB until 1958.

This model was a cooperative project with the TRIX Company, and was produced as a one-time series only in 1995 on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of railroading in Württemberg.
