This 600 HP compound steam engine, licensed for 90 km/h, was around for a surprisingly long time, in some areas until after World War Two.
The DRG took over 438 P42 engines from Prussia and designated them as 360-4; a futrher 63 P42 engines were taken over from other administrations by the DRG.
