German Federal Railroad class 139. With DELTA electronic circuit. 2 axles powered. 4 traction tires. Length over buffers 18.3 cm (7-1/4").
The German Federal Railroad used the class 140 locomotives with an especially powerful brake system on the Höllental (Hell's Valley) line in the Black Forest. The supplementary resistance brakes provided good results on this route as well as on the grade between Düsselfdorf and Wuppertal. This locomotive was designated the class 139 in the change to the new numbering system in 1968.
