In 1965 and 1966, 33 special railcars were built for fast mail transport in Holland and were placed into service. The Werkspoor Company was responsible for the mechanical part of the Dutch State Railways class mP 3000 and the Smit Company handled the electrical part. The unit had a net weight of 52 tons and was equipped with four 236 hp motors; it could haul 15 tons of mail at a top speed of 140 km/h (87.5 mph).
This railcar was produced as an export model in a one-time series. The triple headlight and two red marker lights change over automatically with the direction of travel which is electronically controlled. The coupler hooks on this 27 cm (10-5/8") model can be removed.
