Steam locomotive G 12, Grand Duchy of Baden State Railways, wheel arrangement 2-10-3. Model of the G12 1048. Locomotive body plastic, tender die-cast metal. Authentic livery. Drive on all three tender axles, four wheels with traction tires. Total length 213 mm.
The ancestor of all standard locomotives descends from the G 121 locomotive type developed for the Turkish State Railways by Henschel. Baden ordered 98 engines, others were delivered to Prussia, Saxony, and Württemberg. Most of the locomotives were later taken over by the DR and reclassified as class 58. In the period following World War I, before the DRG was founded, several Baden locomotives wore green livery; this is the prototype case for Roco's model.
The Baden G 12s were primarily used for heavy goods traction, but they also hauled passenger trains on routes with steep ascents. Some of these popular 2-10 tri-cylinder superheated steam engines were still in DR service as late as the 1970s. Performance was 1540 HP (1133 kW) and maximum speed was registered at 65 km/h.
