Electric locomotive class 117, DB. Wheel arrangement 2-4-2. Model of the 117 012-5. Drive on all 4 axles, motor with flywheel, 2 wheels with traction tires. Total length 183 mm.
From 1927 to 1930 a total of 38 of these fast train locomotives were taken into service. These 120 km/h fast, 2800 kW strong engines were mainly seen in Silesia, southern, and central Germany. After 1945, 26 locomotives remained with the DB, who stationed them in Augsburg and Stuttgart, and later used them mainly for express and regional traffic. The last two engines were retired in 1980. Several engines went to the USSR as spoils of war. Two of these were returned and refurbished by the DB, but retired already in 1968.
