The locomotive, directly derived from the 145 and reclassified, complies with both common European AC systems (15 kV/16²/₃ Hz and 25 kV/50 Hz). The engine weighs 84 tons, produces a constant 4,2 MW, and is registered for a top speed of 140 km/h. This dynamic locomotive is in service throughout central and much of northern Europe.
