The prototype 127-001, denominated EuroSprinter, is based on the Spanish class 252 with some improvements like increased maximum speed of 230 km/h, improved motor suspensions, different cooling liquid for the electronics and adaptation to the German catenary voltage. Together with the Portuguese CP 5600 more than 100 of these locomotives were built.
