The V 160 diesel locomotive, or "Lollo" as she is affectionately called, is well-known among railway enthusiasts. She was once the most advanced multipurpose diesel-hydraulic engine of her time. As a single-engine universal locomotive, with a performance lying between that of the V 100 and the V 200, she could take on a wide range of tasks on non-electrified routes. Great hopes were placed in this locomotive both by national and industrial railways, and she was much publicized and exhibited in her heyday.
