Around 1895 3-axle cars were the modern express train passenger cars in Bavaria. During the German State Railroad period cars with trucks that were much quieter in operation and more reliable at high speeds were introduced into express train service. The three-axle cars were well maintained after 30 years of service and continued to be used in regular and fast train service.
