Lima

Lima was founded in 1946 in Italy, initially producing parts for the Italian state railway. When the railway started producing its own parts just a few years later in 1948, Lima (an abbreviation of Lavorazione Italiana Metalli e Affini) switched to producing toys. By the 1970s, Lima was one of the largest model train manufacturers in the world. With increasing competition and market pressure, Lima merged with Rivarossi, Arnold and Jouef in the mid-1990s. This unfortunately wasn't enough to keep the company afloat and Lima's operations ceased in 2004. Lima's assets were however acquired by Hornby, and the brand continues to live on with a limited range of products.
